June 2018

Yes, it is here!  Have you seen the traffic? We need to be mindful that it is going to be difficult to get reservations at restaurants, so please try to RSVP as early as possible, and let a board member know if you can’t make it if you have signed up.

WOW, what a fabulous party the Steak Out was!  It turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon/evening at Oldfield Plantation, with over 30 members attending.  So many thank you’s are in order.  First, of course, to Martha for providing such a beautiful venue for our event. And to your board for all their planning and hard work to make it all come off without a hitch.  And where would we be without our “Chefs du Jour, “ Mark Brown and Ted Lack, who grilled our steaks and chicken to perfection?  Thanks, Guys.  A big thank you also goes out to Karl Gretz and John Shaffer for providing us with some much-needed muscle for the setup and take down; much appreciated!

Many thanks to all who attended for your yummy contributions, and for supporting your Club events.  The parties are always great because it gives us an opportunity to mix, mingle and catch up; something we don’t always have an opportunity to do at our dinners and happy hours.  Let us know if you would like more of these types of events.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the fun times to come.

Warm Regards,

Highlights from May 2018:

Lobster Night, Monday, May 7, 2018, Reilley’s Hilton Head Island

We had a big turnout Monday, May 7th at Reilley’s North End Pub on Hilton Head Island.  No one could resist donning the fashionable plastic lobster bibs while breaking apart their whole one ¼ pound fresh Maine lobster.  The arduous work paid off when the fresh pieces of lobster meat were tenderly dipped into the warmed, melted butter, followed by a few squeezes from the fresh lemons.  All of the participants were delighted with this crustacean dining feast.

Annual Steak Out Saturday, May 19, 2018, Oldfield Plantation Bluffton

Thirty-two members gathered together at the ever-popular annual Steak Out event celebrated at the Oldfield Plantation in Bluffton, hosted by Martha Reynolds, the belle of southern hospitality.

The inviting screened-in pavilion with views of the serene water served as the picture-perfect spot for members to mingle with one another while enjoying a cocktail, glass of wine or a frosty beer.

Hats off to all of those who brought an array of food items that more than satisfied the pallets of the attendees.

Prepared to perfection were the succulent steaks, flavorful chicken breasts, and health conscious vegan burgers lined up on the grill with flames rising from the piping hot coals.  Mark Brown and Ted Lack prevailed as our grill masters, never breaking a sweat as they tossed, turned and cooked to exactness each item.  It was like watching an episode from the Food Networks “Throwdown” with Bobby Flay, minus the cameras.

The weather fully cooperated and the day concluded with the sun setting on the horizon, as folks gathered their belongings and bid farewell.

A special shout-out to our energized volunteer helpers who aided in the transporting of tables, setting up tables for the appetizers, sides, desserts, and contributors to the clean-up process
